TEC Agrees to Injunction that Prohibits Them From Using Diocese of SC Identity

St. George, SC, January 31 – The Episcopal Church (TEC) opted to forgo court on Friday and not put up a fight as South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Diane S. Goodstein today issued a Temporary Injunction to replace the Temporary Restraining Order she signed on January 23 to block TEC, its continuing parishes, individuals, organizations or any entity associated with it from, using, assuming or adopting, in any way, directly or indirectly, the registered names and the seal or mark of The Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocese of South Carolina.

    Prayers continuing.

  2. Cennydd13 says:

Let’s hope that this Temporary Injunction becomes a Permanent Injunction.

Yes, prayers continue for the wonderful diocese of South Carolina. Bravo.

Ditto to all the above. Every victory, whether large or small, in the battle for the soul of Anglicanism is worth celebrating.

Cennydd and all, As Mr. Haley explained to me, the “temporary injunction” lasts until the litigation is done and a judgment has been given. So it is as permanent as it can be at the moment. Will be interesting to see how this plays out in the courts over time and from what I understand it won’t be quick. sigh.

Yes, every small victory is worth celebrating and definitely keep the prayers coming. They are appreciated more than you will ever know!

One commentator on another blog remarked that TEC wasn’t given the chance to say anything before the temporary injunction was imposed, yet their attorney signified their acceptance of the injunction by signing it. I replied that it is time for TEC to shut up and start listening to others for a change.

SC blu cat lady, you folks have many friends here in our diocese, and a lot of us still consider +Mark Lawrence to be one of our own, since he was a priest from Bakersfield. You all are in my prayers…..and I believe those of others here in our diocese as well I wish you all Godspeed.

I will continue to lift up the Diocese of South Carolina, Bishop Lawrence, you, Father Kendall, and all of your faithful parishioners in prayer. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, bless you, keep you, continue to give you and your legal advisors the wisdom of serpents and the innocence of dove. Amen!

Have TEC instigated any litigation against DioSC? Is anything pending?

While anyone would expect it based on their past actions, has anything actually happened yet?

  10. SC blu cat lady says:

Thanks Cennydd and all for the prayers.
Ralph, we are just waiting to see what TEC will do. I don’t have much hope that they will just leave us alone. At least we got the attention of the courts before they could start spreading their misinformation. Hopefully, that will work in our favor.

  11. Ross says:

I can perhaps see what TEC is thinking here… the substance of the injunction — that is, who legally owns the incorporated entity known as the Diocese of South Carolina and can therefore use its name and marks — basically IS the matter of the court case. To argue against the injunction before the case come to trial would be essentially to argue the entire case early. Perhaps they need more time to prepare?

If someone would like to do some Wikipedia editing, perhaps the following page could be tuned up a little.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Episcopal_Diocese_of_South_Carolina

    Things like:
    Ecclesiastical province: independent
Bishop: The Rt. Rev. Mark Lawrence
The fact that there is no continuing diocese. Another entity has been organized.

    And so forth.

    And, check this page:

Note Q&A #2, which encourages TEC folks in DioSC parishes to instigate and foment discord and rebellion in their parish.

    Nice work, TEC-SC.

  14. AnglicanFirst says:

“…instigate and foment discord and rebellion in their parish.”

This is a tactic that comes right out of the ‘play book’ developed by the Communist Party in Soviet Russia in the 1920s and 1930s and distributed by the Soviet Party controlled COMINTERN to used to stimulate uprisings in non-Communist countries throughout the world.

  15. Cennydd13 says:

    14. Yes, and it’s a thoroughly dishonest and deceitful method for a so-called Christian “bishop” and her cronies to resort to in order to have everything their own way. The warning about this unscrupulous tactic needs the widest possible dissemination among potentially targeted parishes and missions in order to ensure that Schori and Company are defeated in their backhanded effort to gain control.
